Not much is known about him. His parents died at the hands of, who Emil believes to be, Lloyd Irving in Palmacosta after the Blood Purge. As a result, he is sent to his aunt and uncle in Luin who dislike him and talk harshly to him. He gets bullied for not looking up to the hero Lloyd Irving because he refused to worship a murderer. Emil is very shy, nervous and apologizes a lot. His shyness prevents him from making any friends while in Luin and he feels like he is lonely and that everyone in the town hates him for not looking up to Lloyd. His personality changes a lot when he meets Richter as Ricther helps Emil to stand up for himself and not cower in fear in the face of opposition.
